Google Algorithm Test #1 Use of Underscore in URL
Introduction
At Wordcamp 2007, Google 's Matt Cutts mentionned that someone was working on a way to use underscores as seperators between words when used in URLs. This has been done for years with hyphens but not for underscores even though a lot of websites and blogs use them. The objective of this Google algorithm test is to determine whether or not Google is now using the underscore as a word seperator in URLs and if a Web page can be ranked based on a keyword that can only be found in the URL. Method When creating this page, 2 fictive words that don't return any results in Google will be used in the URL and they will be seperated by an underscore. Those words won't be used in the content of this page either so if the page gets indexed and shows results for those 2 fictive words by entering them seperatly in a query without using the underscore, it will be an evidence that Google does use the underscore as a seperator and does use keywords found in URLs in its algorithm. Results This Google algorithm test will be reviewed on our Internet Marketing Blog once it is completed. Please come back later and take a look a look at our SEO Services if you need any help with ranking your website in search engines.
